OSBA Small Ball (U7) Programs

Program Overview

Our U7 program introduces boys and girls, ages 5 – 7, to the game of basketball with emphasis on physical literacy (agility, balance, coordination, speed and general movement), basketball fundamentals (shooting, ball handling, dribbling, passing & receiving), and character development.

Coaches in the program are focused on helping to create a positive, safe and encouraging learning environment in which children can challenge each other and themselves to become better players and people.

  • Fall and winter programs will run in separate semesters of 10 weeks.
  • Practices for all sessions will be 1 hour each week.
  • The Fall semester will typically start by the first week of October.
  • The Winter semester will typically start on the first week of January.
  • The 2025 Spring Semester will run from April 2 to May 21.
  • Players can register before the start of any semester.
  • Players will be required to register and pay a separate fee for each semester.
  • A maximum of 20-24 participants will be accepted in each age group for each session in each semester.
  • Once the program fills a waitlist will be created. Additional sessions will be added based on parent volunteers and available gym space.
  • Registration will be paid on first come, first served basis with full payment due at time of registration.
  • All participants will be required to supply a size 5 basketball, suitable indoor court shoes and shorts. An OSBA jersey will be provided to all participants.

Sessions

Small Ball Introduction

  • This program is specifically designed for players age 5 and 6.
  • Separate fall and winter semesters will each run in 1 hour sessions for 10 weeks, in gyms located primarily in South Keys, Findlay Creek or Riverside South.

Small Ball Intermediate

  • This program is designed for players age 6 and 7.
  • Separate semesters for boys and girls will be offered.
  • Semesters will each run in 1 hour sessions for 10 weeks, depending on gym availability, in gyms primarily located in South Keys, Findlay Creek or Riverside South.

2025 Co-Ed Spring Semester

Looking for Something More Advanced?

Players who are at least 7 years old and have basketball experience are invited to register for our U10 development program which has been designed to serve players that are 7, 8 and 9 years of age.

This semester will be offered to a maximum of 24 players age 5-7.
