Police Records Checks (PRC)

Background Checks

All coaches, and volunteers - OSBA requires all volunteers (coaches, and volunteers) to complete a Police Records Check (PRC) every calendar year.

The current requirement is for an updated (2025) PRC - Level 3 (Vulnerable Sector Check).  It must be completed prior to your first day of coaching, in the calendar year you are coaching.
Once volunteers have registered as a volunteer in RAMP, they will be provided with a volunteer letter to waive the fees and asked to apply at: https://www.ottawapolice.ca/en/reports-and-requests/police-record-checks.aspx with this letter. You may need to create an account if you don't already have one.

The name on your volunteer letter must match exactly the name on your identification.  Coaches should reach out to their House League or Competitive Convenor should they need a letter produced. If it does not, please request an updated letter. Once obtained, please respond to the message of request with a copy of your PRC attached. When registering with the Ontario Basketball Association, competitive coaches may see a requirement for a Sterling Record Check in RAMP. Just load your updated Ottawa Police Record Check instead. It is accepted in lieu of.
