Coach Honorarium Policy

IMPLEMENTED MARCH 6 2025
2024/2025 OSBA Coach Honorarium Policy:

Parent / Non-Parent / Guardian Coaches (including students age 21 or older as of
September 1 of the current season):

* Competitive Programs (U10-U19): $500 per season to 1 Head Coach per team. $325 per season to 1 Assistant Coach per team.
* Development/House-League (U10-U19): $400 per season to 1 Head Coach per team. $200 per season to 1 Assistant Coach per team.
* Small Ball (U7) (when sessions are not led by an external provider): $200 per coach / session / semester for a maximum of 3 coaches (1 coach per 6-7 participants based on a minimum 10 week semester).
* If additional coaches are involved to deliver any programs, or coaches equally share coaching responsibilities, then it is the discretion of the assigned Head coach to discuss with the OSBA Executive how to split allocated Honorariums.
* Coaches coaching multiple teams will receive the maximum of $500 honorarium.

Student Coaches (age 20 or under as of September 1 of the current season ) (developing future coaches): $250 / season.

Coach Training Support: OSBA supports coach development by funding partial to full
registration fees for coaching certifications aligned with the Canadian Basketball Athlete
Development Model. Unless a coach submits written rationale for approval seeking an
exemption, reimbursement is provided after certification is received.

Travel Expenses: Local travel is not reimbursed for any coaches. For out-of-town tournament travel (greater than 100 km from St Mark High school), OSBA reimburses up to $1,000 per season for one non-parent head coach and $1,000 per season for one non -parent assistant coach per competitive team. Travel expenses (gas, lodging, meals) are reimbursed upon submission of receipts by non-parent coaches. Parent coaches do not qualify for
reimbursement of travel expenses.

Honorarium Payment: Honorariums are paid at the end of the season. Payments are processed
by the OSBA VP Admin, upon confirmation from VP House or VP Competitive that coaching
duties have been fulfilled for the season. Payments will be made by the OSBA Administrator no
later than June 30 each year.

This policy should result in no need for T4A slips to be generated. (i.e. coaches coaching more than one
team can only receive one honorarium)
