Now Seeking: General Manager (Independent Contractor Role)
Are you an organized, proactive person with a passion for community sports? OSBA seeks a General Manager to assist with the club’s operations and programming, maintain facility permits, gym schedules and member registrations, and support our volunteer-driven basketball community.
About the Role
The role is a contract-based, part-time position, renewable annually. The General Manager reports to the President and is accountable to the OSBA Board of Directors. While this role has fluctuating hourly requirements, we expect the GM to prioritize OSBA work according to required deadlines.
Time Commitment:
- ~30 hours/week during peak season (approx. 36 weeks) [March-June, August-November]
- ~10 hours/week during off-season (approx. 16 weeks) [December - February + July]
- Hours may vary depending on volunteer availability
Compensation:
Compensation based on experience ($30,000 - $40,000)
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Administration
- Support the organization in the delivery of programs and seasonal planning
- Maintain gym permit applications and scheduling (at the direction of the board)
- Coordinate with volunteers (technical director, coaches, managers, trainers, etc.) to ensure smooth operations
Registration & Bookkeeping
- Maintain member registration and payment systems
- Maintain accurate financial records and assist with budget tracking
- Work with our accountant and ensure compliance with financial policies
Communications
- Coordinate club-wide communications and email updates
- Maintain and update the website and assist with social media updates
- Serve as the first point of contact for general inquiries
Support the Executive
- Provide operational and strategic insight to the President and Board of Directors
- Assist with policy implementation and reporting
About You
- An ideal candidate will have the following required knowledge:
- Experience with financial systems and accounting practices (e.g., QuickBooks, online banking tools)
- Experience maintaining registration systems (e.g. TeamSnap, RAMP)
- Comfort with maintaining website/social media accounts
- Highly efficient in administrative tools, i.e. Google Workspace/Microsoft Office
Suitability:
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse set of stakeholders
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- A collaborative mindset and familiarity/experience with youth sports or community organizations is a bonus.
- Demonstrated proficiency to learn independently, think ahead, and propose solutions
