
This past weekend (March 27-29), the EOBA hosted the end season House League Tournament with a full slate of games featuring Ottawa South Basketball Association (OSBA) teams across multiple divisions, including U16B Boys, U14A Boys, U14B Boys, and U14 Girls. Ottawa South teams delivered strong performances throughout the tournament, representing the association with pride, determination, and outstanding sportsmanship.
Leading the way was the U16B boys team, coached by Coach Roy, who capped off a remarkable undefeated season in dominant fashion. The group went 12-0 and won the Christmas tournament. They secured the championship with a hard-fought 60-51 victory over OSS Molot in a tightly contested game that saw momentum swing back and forth throughout. Their composure and consistency all season long proved to be the difference as the survived more than a couple nail biting games along the way.
Also in the U14B Boys Division 2, the OSBA Tucker team earned a Silver medal, showcasing tenacity, grit, strong defense, and exceptional team cohesion inspired by their coach.
At the U14A Boys Division 2 level, the OSBA boys team, coached by Zubrycki, captured the Bronze medal with a strong win over the Ottawa Titans, bringing home hardware after an impressive showing.
In U14B Boys Division 2 action, OSBA 2, led by Coach Ali, delivered one of the most inspiring performances of the weekend. After finishing the regular season 0-12, the team battled their way to the bronze medal game, where they narrowly fell 32-31 to OSS Cattran in a heartbreaking finish. Their resilience and growth were on full display.
The U14 Girls Division saw strong representation from OSBA as well. Coach Bellamy’s team fought hard but came up short in the play-in game, losing 25-20 to close out their season. Meanwhile, Coach Dawdy’s squad advanced to the Bronze medal game, where they ultimately fell 44-37 to Nepean 2 after a determined effort.
Overall, it was an excellent weekend of basketball, highlighted by strong team performances, perseverance, and sportsmanship across all levels. Next up on the 10-12 April will see the U19 Boys, U16A Boys, U14B Boys Division 1 and U12 Girls. Go SOUTH!!!!
